The Online Training Opportunity You Have Been Waiting For. Steve Sharkey Is Online!

I recently asked one of my clients a question – Here’s her answer:

“Steve, do you want to know why I decided to get a personal trainer?” she continued before I could venture an answer, “To push me.

When I know what I am capable of achieving  when I am being coached, the bar has been set for the sessions I do on my own. I know from those sessions that I can always go a little heavier.

Otherwise I just meander along, wasting my time and  money, and coming out of the gym  thinking that I’ve done a hard workout.  But now I know, what a hard workout is, and you inspire and coach me to push myself harder.”

Spot on! I thought.  She’s got it. She allowed me to help her help herself!

I have seen many people joining a gym who do not know that they are capable of so much more than they do in the 45 – 60 minutes that they spend there. They underestimate themselves, and because they underestimate themselves they do not get the results they hope to achieve when they initially join the gym.  You are not necessarily working out harder just by spending hours in the gym.

No? Then stop what you are doing and stand back.  Do a ‘training audit’. If the experienced guys do this, then it only makes sense that everyone should do this. Getting some distance and assistance may even help you to realise if you are overtraining and whether you could do with an active rest break, where you re-evaluate your program.

Having lived half a century (sounds a lot older than only 50) I know the value of ageing actively and I have strategies that I want to share with people that will enable them to have the energy they had in their 20’s. For motivation to become lasting, it has to come from inside. When you have internal motivation you have integrity, and integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

I have been part of the fitness industry for 30 years. Making fitness part of your lifestyle means that getting on or off the fitness wagon is no longer a concern. When fitness is part of your life, it will become part of the changing panorama that is your life. Living may sometimes mean soaring high above the clouds, but it may also mean walking slowly. As long as you keep moving forward.  The same with fitness. Some days you may feel that you can run a marathon, while other days you know just putting one foot in front of the other is a major achievement. When we do this together, you will come to understand that it is in the pushing through, in the putting the one foot in front of the other, that the success will come.
