Here’s How To Lose 10 Kg’s

Was training Andrew on Tuesday. He’s regular as clockwork with 4 gym visits per week. He commented: “Here we go, it’s that time of the year…….. I’ve noticed loads of new faces joining the gym in the past week.”

I joked: “Yes, The I-Feel-Guilty-For-Pigging-Myself-Over-Christmas-And-New-Year-Crowd.”

Joking aside – Lots of folks join with genuine intention to succeed. Unfortunately, many discontinue visiting the gym within their first 60 days

And here’s the KICKER……. They could have ALL SUCCEEDED with a simple change of mindset.

And here’s how:

DON’T THINK OF NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS….. INSTEAD, THINK OF NEW YEAR PROCESSES.

I’ll give you some examples in a minute. But let me first give a brief description between the 2 ‘thinkings’:
Process-driven people are individuals who focus on the steps and methods required to achieve a goal and place a high value on following established procedures. They often take a systematic and organised approach to their work and prioritise efficiency and consistency.

Goal-driven people, on the other hand, are more focused on the end results and outcomes of their efforts. They are often motivated by achieving specific targets and may be more willing to take risks or deviate from established procedures in order to reach their goals.

Both process-driven and goal-driven individuals can be effective, but they may have different approaches and priorities.

It’s worth noting that there’s no one right way to approach and people can have different priorities in different situations. Sometimes people have to adapt to a different context and it would be beneficial to have a mix of process-driven and goal-driven approaches. Having said that, In over 3 decades of coaching clients I’ve seen far greater success with Process driven peeps than I have with goal process peeps.
And here’s why!
Let’s say you’ve just set a New Year’s resolution GOAL to lose 10kg by the end of March. That’s doable in 11 weeks. The problem is though…… It’s too broad and can be forgotten about.

Introduce PROCESS thinking and your 10kg target turns into a daily reminder and habit.

So let’s say you came to me and said: STEVE, WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO REDUCE MY WEIGHT BY 10KG’S?

Simply (but not easy) You simply need to be consistent in the following processes. In other words – Get S##T Done:

1. Daily Sleep process – Get into a regular sleep pattern by going to bed and getting up same time daily
2. Daily Mindset process – Put some ME TIME aside just for you
3. Daily Nutrition process – Plan your day/week. If busy, bulk-cook meals on a Sunday
4. Daily Exercise process – If you can only train after work, put your training kit in the car. Don’t give in to temptation and go home to change…… you know what will happen!

Four simple processes will forge you toward your 10kg reduction.

Good luck and keep pumpin
