How to build a figure or physique you can be proud of

Fit Girl

It’s not rocket science!

We are living in a TV dinner world and want everything instantly. With the advance in the way things are operated, the constant rush to get things done, is it really surprising that we keep thinking, hoping, praying for a magic formula that will change our way of living and the way we look as well?

There are TV shows that capitalise on people’s need to look different quickly, but reality television is so far removed from reality.

Everyone’s over-thinking and over-complicating training and nutrition

You should see some of the questions I get on a daily basis. I constantly want to say, “It doesn’t have to be this hard.”

The short and sweet of building a body you are proud of is:

  • Lift heavy (within your limits), and get a pump. Sprint hard, do some lower intensity conditioning.
  • Eat more carbs on training days, less on off days; unless you’re skinny and ripped. Sleep eight hours a night, take a nap if you can, do your best to eliminate stress. Do some soft tissue work on a daily basis.

Twenty or thirty years ago this stuff wasn’t so complicated

Arnold never sat there with the Pythagorean Theorem while planning his workouts. Bill Kazmaier didn’t get stressed out if the angle of his bench was not precisely 21.86 degrees inclined.

Robby Robinson didn’t worry about conditioning affecting his gains nor did he perfectly timed his intervals. He ran up a set of stairs a few times. Then, when
that got easy, he did it again.

Back then you couldn’t over-think things like you can today. You went to the gym, lifted a barbell a bunch of times, and on your off days you jogged.

That was all you could do because that’s all the information that existed. If you were smart you read John McCallum’s column and followed his advice of doing squats, dips, presses, rows, chins and deads while keeping your workouts short and sweet.

A lot of people produced brilliant results without information overload and scientific theories. A simple plan is all it takes.

We have to remember what we knew then

No need to over think things.

Don’t complicate things

No one can do it for you –Take responsibility for your own health and be consistent in your daily actions towards a more positive you.
