OVER TRAINING
I wrote the following brief article to my to private facebook group last week…. thought it would be a good idea to share it with you as well: I’d like to share a personal experience of mine. It lasted for 3 years, commencing waaayyy back in 1984. This was when I decided I’d had enough in the boxing ring, and decided to give Bodybuilding a go! It’s funny, because previously, when I was in the Royal Airforce, I use to train along-side bodybuilding guys. And thought to myself – “What a bunch of Poseurs.” Little did I know….. Anyway, cut a long story short, I really ‘got sucked into it.’ I was experiencing ‘gains.’ So, naturally I thought, the more I do, the better I’ll get. Consequently, my training went from 3 X 45 minute sessions, to 6 X 90 minute sessions. The result – yes, I did improve. But at what consequence? You see, I was 20 years old at the time. Based in Germany. Supposedly, having the time of my life, visiting places. Going night clubbing…. all the usual stuff you’d do at that age. Instead, I was obsessed with training and eating the right foods. As I mentioned, this went on for 3 years. My mates gave up asking me to “come out” It got to a point when I finally realized that I needed to change my ways…………… I needed to create a balance. So here’s what I did: Bingo! Isn’t life strange Something to think about if you’re a ‘Steve Sharkey back in 1984.’
Would you like to avoid the many mistakes I made and maximise your potential?
